NEW MOON!!!!

How excited was I when I got invited to go with Jennifer from Anthologies Scrapbook and Sewing Studio (just a little plug there ;D) and some other girls to the 11:59 premier of NEW MOON!!! But my dumb ass didn't have a clue that they would sell out of tickets! So there I was the day of the movie with no ticket. My wonderful Hubby (who offered to go with me over the weekend) told me that there would probably be people selling tickets outside, so I decided to get up and go anyway. I made a call to Jennifer who scored me a ticket as soon as she got there... sa-weet and easy!!! There were four of us and we paired up into different theaters. Jennifer and Christine were in one and June and I were in another. I was so happy that I didn't have to sit by myself!! And the movie was great...sooooooo much better than the first one, which was very cheesy. I am very tired today but oh so happy!!

Peter Anderson Festival and a Night Out

The Peter Anderson Festival is the first weekend in November and is a really big deal around here. I read an article that estimated 100,000-150,000 visitors over the whole weekend. And I believe it because it was packed!! I tend to buy from the same artists...Steve White, Linda Theobald, Stig Marcussan (below), and Marlin Miller (who does the Katrina carvings along the Biloxi beach). We always enjoy talking to Marlin and his wife, they are awesome people and are great with Lauren. He is going to make a special small owl for Lauren next year, since she has requested it for the last 2 years...How awesome is that?!? This year Stig hand watercolored my print while we were at the festival, and re-signed it. He is very nice too, and let me snap a couple of pics of him doing my print. I think Lauren would have sat there all day to watch him...she is a budding artist herself. I found someone new that I'll probably be buying more from-Missy Lawrence (ML Mudd Works) out of Biloxi. She's got some gorgeous pottery that has beautiful coppery accents on it. I bought a small green fish to use as a spoon rest for my kitchen. It's so pretty that I don't want to put a dirty spoon on it!

Then later Saturday night the Hubby and I went out for a much needed night out. We went to eat at Shady's Global Grill. It was yummy, as always. Then we headed over to the Government Street Grocery and caught The Captain Midnight Band...they were awesome!!! Really talented and slight weird! The lead singer/guitar player wore long braids and had one of those asian pointy hats on. And the girls playing the synths wore white wigs and silver go-go boots. Craig bought their CD and I have been listening to it non-stop.

I Am Choosing

Life is what I choose to make it, so....

I am choosing...to be happy.

I am choosing...to be positive.

I am choosing...to be caring and giving.

I have been dragged down by other people's drama and hatred and self loathing and negative attitudes, and I won't do it anymore.

I am choosing...to surround myself with loving people, even if that means being by myself.

I spent the evening with a few of the most wonderful women. The kind of women that are beautiful inside and out. And it has made me realize that I have been bogged down by so called friends that aren't worth it. So from now on I am not letting them get me down. I will not be worried about what they are doing and why they don't like me. That's their problem and not mine. I am a good person. I am caring and giving and fun to be around. I just need to choose to be that way in all that I do.

I love these little quotes that you can find on photobucket, so what's a life affirmation post without them??

And to all who have listened to me whine and complain...I thank you.

Finally

pulled my sewing machine back out. It seems that I can only do one crafty thing at a time...go figure! I got 2 blankets done and finished cutting out my fleece jacket. I need to get some sew in interfacing before I can start on it, though. I also started cutting out some of my scraps for a few projects like headbands and wrist pin cushions. Hopefully I'll have some finished projects soon...but I have to work and this weekend is Peter Anderson Festival and a playdate on Sunday. Can't wait!

Look What I Got

Here's a look at just a few of the fabrics that I got on sale at Joann's. I think I'm going to make some blankets out of them.

Going in the Gutter Again

It has been a really long time since I did the Gutter Girlz challenge. Hell, it's been a long time since I've scrapped. But I'm back in the game and today brought up an issue I've been able to avoid for a couple of months. What better way to deal with it than to scrap it. And the only way it to do that is with a Gutter Girlz prompt. These girls are awesome and really help me get it all out...

THE PROMPT:
I'm not ur bitch, BITCH
THE SONG:
U and Ur HAND by Pink
PRODUCT/TECHNIQUE:
Lipstick

I changed the prompt a little from "I'm not ur bitch" to "ur a bitch". I went with the lipstick kiss on my journaling spot and wrote in kiss my ass. I added a chipboard skully with some rhinestone eyes and wrote in a few choice words there, too. I used alot of bubblegum pink to symbolize the total fakeness of what I thought was a real friendship. It's really hard to get past someone not wanting to be your friend anymore when they have all of a sudden become buddies with your best friend/cousin. How am I supposed to move on and get over it when it is constantly in my face? Oh and I did I mention that she's a fucking drunk? Yeah the kind that has to go to rehab- twice since she started all this bullshit with me. Apparently she's nice to me, then starts drinking, goes off on me, and then goes to rehab. I wish she'd either stay sober and nice, or just stay locked in rehab permanently. So anyway here's what I did with it...

Birthday Presents

So this year I thought I would make my sister and my mom a 12 x 12 layout for their birthdays. My sister came down for a visit last summer and I just love this picture of the two of us. Her birthday is in August, and I haven't mailed it to her yet. So maybe this will be her Christmas present this year. I should just go ahead and mail it to her since she is leaving for Afghanistan soon.

My mom's birthday was last weekend, and we went to the Zonta craft festival in Pascagoula. It was fun and HOT! Good Lord where is the fall weather?!?!

The pics are from last year when we went to a pumpkin patch and small festival. Mom had a good time picking out funky pumpkins. She seemed to like it, but the true test is if she'll actually hang it up in her house! lol

Please don't mind the mess behind the frames (which I got at Hobby Lobby for 50% off) . The pink fabric on the table will one day be some PJ's. Thanks for looking!

New Scrappy Layouts

My plan was to take pictures of the few layouts I have done recently, and then I started to take the pictures and I realized that I have been waaaaay busier than I thought! And I realized that I have been neglecting my daughter's book. So I need to work on some more on her stuff. Please forgive the bad photos...I was using morning light and it put a tint on the layouts. The colors are much better IRL. Yeah and I was lazy and didn't crop the pics like I normally would...

This is me and a couple of girlfriends...we went to a Japanese restaurant where I tried and hated sushi.

Fall Fun
Ethan on his second birthday. He loves putting his hands in his pockets.

From Happy to Meltdown in 3 2 1!!

Silly Faces & Having a Ball...Ethan when he was a little over a year old.

Graduation Day...a special ceremony the school did for the graduating 4th graders.

5th Grade...I made this LO in a class by Jennifer Fox at the Anthologies Scrapbook Studio...American Crafts Frenzy.

What I Did On Summer Vacation

Just a few of the things that we did over the summer...

Lots of boat rides to Horn Island.

We went to the Aquarium of the Americas in New Orleans.

We also went to the Audubon Zoo in New Orleans.

Lauren's birthday party was at the new spray park. It is fun for kids of all ages.

Ethan had to get stitches after jumping out of Daddy's lap and landing head first on the coffee table. This was not a pleasant experience. He is fine now, my poor baby.

We went to Indiana for my Grandmother's funeral, but ended up having a double reunion and a really good time.

My brother, his fiancee, and their son (my nephew) came down for a visit. We did alot of things like going to the island and getting sno-cones at the caboose.

And then school started...Here's my brand new fifth grader. Doesn't she look all cute?

This concludes my picture essay of my family's summer vacation. Thanks for letting me share it with you!

My First Sewing Projects

So here are some of the sewing projects I've been doing while I was busy not blogging. Starting with my very first few projects, very simple things like baby blankets (more like sheets b/c its just too damn hot 'round here) and a shirt for Lauren that was already smocked. I just had to do the seam up the side and hem it.

My first with-a-pattern attempt. Luckily it was very easy, and Lauren loves it.

I've Been Gone

Now I remember why I don't post more often...it is a bitch to upload pictures, not only does it take too long, but then they aren't in the right order or place...that's if they uploaded in the first place. Which mine didn't.

So, I've been gone. My grandmother passed away on Friday, and we left for Indiana on Saturday. It took us 2 days to get up there. We went on our "new" RV. The kids did pretty good on the trip, no one killed anyone so that's good. Grandma was pretty old, she had Alzheimer's, and was in a bad way so it was more of a blessing that she's gone. I'm just sorry that I wasn't able to see her more often...It has been 11 years since I've been to Indy. Now that we have the RV, hopefully, it won't be that long for the next trip.

Other than the funeral, I had a great time in Indy. We stayed with my aunt on my dad's side. My other aunt and my Grams were both in town, so it was like a reunion. And of course alot of the family from my mom's side was there for the services- double reunion.

In about a week my brother and his family will be here for a couple of weeks. I can't wait. We are going to have so much fun.

Welcome!!! (First Post)

So I'm done with my old blog...the title was just too limited for me. I loved my blog and I was missing posting on it, but since it has been months since I scrapbooked, I never wrote on it. So I thought I would just start fresh...with a general- yet cute- title. I came up with the title as a play on my last name of Duda (pronounced doo-dah) with the song "Camptown Races" (you know the one, doo-dah, doo-dah...oh doo-dah day). It morphs into doo-dah days...into doo-dah daze...into doo-dah daizy/daisy. And since one of my favorite flowers is the Gerber daisy, I thought it would be a cute title.

So here's just a quick bit about me...I am married to a great guy who gets on my last frickin' nerve. I have 2 kids...an 11 y.o. daughter who is too much like her daddy, who is so creative and talented and sweet natured, who can do anything she wants if only she'd get up off her butt and do it...a 2 1/2 y.o. son who is also so sweet and is a total mama's boy. He is potty training right now and is doing so good that I think we are about done (YAY!!!). I work at the local hospital in the laboratory and I love my job, especially the hours- three 12 hour shifts, so I get 4 days off. Sa-weet!! I have a potty mouth (you have been warned!! lol), and I 'm a pretty straight shooter. I am the big sister of 4 siblings, so I can get pretty bossy (or forceful, if you will). But I have been making a sincere effort to reach out to others, to be friendlier, to be less "forceful", to try and cement these acquaintances that I have into real, solid friendships.

So I guess that's about it for my first post. Thanks for checking me out, feel free to comment or just lurk! lol
